Wudu – Ablution, The Purity Of Body & Its Importance
What Is Wudu:
The Wudu is an Islamic practice that is being practiced for the cleanliness of specific body parts. Most often, the Wudu is performed before offering the Salah. The Wudu is also known as half ablution as it is the cleanliness and purification of almost half of the body parts of a human being
How To Make Wudu:
There are normally 8 steps of making a proper Wudu through which one might get purified. The Wudu steps are:
Make a proper Niyyah of Wudu
Wash your hands three times up to the wrist starting from the left hand and then following by the right one
Wash your hands three times up to the wrist starting from the left hand and then following by the right one | |
Rinse your mouth three times. Take the water in and after cleaning the mouth spit it out | |
Similarly, rinse your nose three times by partially inhaling and then spitting the water out | |
Wash your entire face with water that must cover your whole forehead, face, jawline, and chin | |
Wash your arms three times starting from fingers to elbow starting from the right arm and then followed by the left one | |
Clean your head also known as ‘Masah’. This must start from the forehead and will continue till fore-neck. Also, clean your ears by using the index finger to wipe the dust from inside and thumb for outside | |
Wash your feet by starting from your toes and followed by the ankles |
Importance & Benefits Of Wudu:
Through Wudu, one may achieve a level of purity and cleanliness. Besides this, there are several advantages and importance of performing the half ablution

Things What Breaks Wudu:
Various things must be avoided that breaks one’s Wudu, they are;
- Urination
- Deep sleep
- Light bleeding
- Menstruation
- Defecation
- Flatulence
Hadiths About The Wudu:
Several Hadiths and Sunnahs by the Prophet Muhammad (SAW) describe the important aspects of Wudu. Such as:
The Prophet said, “Whoever performs ablution should clean his nose with water by putting the water in it and then blowing it out, and whoever cleans his private parts with stones should do it with an odd number of stones.
The Dua After Wudu:
A lot of supplications can be recited after performing the Wudu but this supplication is an authentic form of dua to recite after Wudu
This Dua can be translated into English as:
“I bear witness that none has the right to be worshipped but Allah alone, Who has no partner, and I bear that Muhammad (SAW) is His messenger and prophet. O Allah make me among those who turn to you in repentance and also make me among them who are purified”
